From an analysis of a found 9 × 12 cm silver gelatin negative, depicting frames with photographs inside, this work aims at demonstrating ways in which, in post second World War times, vernacular photography was influenced by the style and composition of professional advertising photography, which in turn started to incorporate the ‘imperfections’ of amateur photography in later twentieth century.The negative presented here as an object of research, is a professional photographic record primarily intended to promote commercial products, but the content and historical times of the images it holds, suggest a deeper reading of their political and economical implications.It becomes a kind of micro-atlas (an attempt at a totality) of the history of art and humanity from the eighteenth century up to the present.​
