Title: Editing in absentia: the Portuguese fragments of Comestor's Historia Scholastica
Abstract: This work assesses the challenges of working with fragmentary texts, or those transmitted in problematic and very late witnesses, to establish an edition that makes it possible, at the same time, to present an accessible and coherent version of the Portuguese translation of Pedro Comestor's Historia Scholastica (14th-15th centuries) and, simultaneously, to reveal the plurality of supports and phases of transmission of the text, in which the choice of digital edition has proved to be especially pertinent.
